Yes, sorry darlings. I’m not dead, and I’M GONNA REVIEW SOMETHING SOON, DAMMIT.

Disney (Animation Studios) and Pixar have announced their upcoming movie slate for 2008-2012, the list which as follows, is:

  • 2008:
    1. WALL-E. DWEE.
    2. Bolt. Christ, another dog movie again?
    3. Tinkerbell (Straight to DVD). WHATTT?! WHAAAAAT?! DIDN’T BOB IGER SHUT THIS DOWN? (Oh wait, he didn’t. Le sigh.)
  • 2009:
    1. Up. Spacetiemz 4 old man dreamz come tru. You just know this is going to be heartwrenching story. I’m taking my hanky.
    2. Toy Story in 3D. Not interested. 3D makes me all crosseyed and dizzy.
    3. The Princess and the Frog. I seriously cannot contain my joy at 2D making a comeback.
    4. Tinkerbell: North of Neverland (Straight to DVD). Okay.
  • 2010:
    1. Toy Story 2 in 3D. Still not interested. Speaking of which, I need to go dig out my TS2 DVD.
    2. Toy Story 3. I’m… really okay on this. I didn’t like 2 very much, I adored 1, so… we’ll see.
    3. Rapunzel. YEAH! YEAH YEAH YEAH GLEN KEANE ILU!
    4. Tinkerbell: A Midsummer Storm (Straight to DVD). … Okay.
  • 2011:
    1. Newt (Pixar). It’s the same guy who directed ‘Lifted’, if you remember that hilarious short. I’m definitely looking forward to this.
    2. The Bear and the Bow (Pixar). It’s Pocahontas meets Brother Bear, from the synopsis of it.
    3. Tinkerbell: A Winter Story (Straight to DVD) (Disney). Okay, I give up. !$*&#!@$*(!#^$!*(#$^!@(*#&!*(#&!@(*#
  • 2012:
    1. Cars 2 (Pixar). The synopsis didn’t give too much away, but since it’s directed by Brad Lewis, I have good faith in it. It does puzzle me that they would choose Cars of all the movies to get a sequel – in comparison to the other Pixar films, this one didn’t do as spectacularly at the box office, neither did it fare as well with the critics.
    2. King of the Elves (Disney). Snow White in guy form. Sounds like it.

New Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian posters and promo images. Yum, although he looks like he’s 15.

New promo images for Cars 2, Toy Story 3, Bolt and a bunch of others.

Next Prince of Persia rumour: Jake Gyllenhaal. Still DO NOT WANT.

High School Musical 4 in the works already, even before HSM 3 has begun shooting. President Rich Ross already stated the whole cast isn’t coming back in HSM4, so I think they’re going to dub it ‘the next generation’ as their subtitle or something. Too much of a good thing isn’t good, Disney! Remember the boybands mantra – when one guy leaves, everything goes to pot!

Re: Tinkerbell – At least they’re not bastardizing classics by making Peter Pan 7: Wait,Whose Granddaughter Is This? and Sleeping Beauty 14: She’s Asleep Again. I think, even though it’s the silly fairies stuff, they’re not compromising their integrity quite as much by making original content movies as opposed to sequels. Yes, Tinkerbell is reused but… meh, whatev.

Re: 3D – I’m kind of excited for it, but nothing will ever replace the regular versions for me. 3D is still a novelty device which Disney will use to its full advantage by extracting two tickets for the same movie from me.

Re: Narnia – *SQUEEEEEE* I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS. I’ve been waiting so long.

Re: 2D – YAYAYAYAYAY. That was the question I wanted desperately to ask Lee Unkrich and which I was SO GLAD was asked. Silly Disney, thinking 3D killed 2D. BAD STORIES killed Disney’s movies so therefore Disney killed 2D. Now John Lasseter, who Disney ‘let go’ years and years ago and who is the apparent slayer of 2D, is bringing it back. Poetic justice? I think so.

Re: EVERYTHING THE HECK ELSE – I am so excited for the rota of movies slated. I think Disney could come into a new golden age, and you and I both know it desperately needs it.

Tinkerbell – HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I try to think of it as fanfiction, but I just hope the animation won’t be as awful as… I dunno, Hunchback II.

2D – They let John Lasseter go before? Wow, I didn’t know that.

And DAMN RIGHT they new a new golden age. It’s coming awfully slowly, though. I don’t have high hopes for Bolt, and I guess only after Princess and the Frog I’ll have some room to say something. And thank the heavens Rapunzel has a tentative release date. It seems like they were talking about it forever.

John Lasseter worked in Disney’s 2D animation a long time ago, and due to his pursuing a project that was viewed as risky at the time (2D animation combined with 3D) which was eventually shelved (it was going to be The Brave Little Toaster, actually), he was let go. I think they viewed him as a risk given his, at the time, untraditional and radical ideas. So, yeah, Disney basically told him to get lost, which eventually brought about the start of Pixar Animation Studios. And that brings us to the current situation which is just kind of hilarious to me. :)

I think Cars was a great movie (it’s my favorite of all time!) so I can’t wait for Cars 2. But everyone has their opinions, and I’m appriciative of it. I’ve got a friend who says Cars is gay, so I have to live with it day to day.

I think The Princess and the Frog will be awesome. 2D making a comeback, plus it being the first African American Disney princess.

I’m not the biggest fan of faries like I used to be, so Tinker Bell isn’t a big hit with me. I didn’t watch the first one, that’s for sure.

Toy Story was my favorite movie as a little kid, so I also loved Toy Story 2, but I think Toy Story 3 is a little redundant. They wait so long to put out a third. It may have been an original plan but couldn’t be done because their contract actually called for three ORIGINAL movies, but come on! It just sounds like the first time Pixar may fail. Which I’m afraid of.

The synopsis of Newt makes it sound like a bit more of an adultish movie, so I would wanna check that one out. I mean the two newts of their kind hate each other, but need to love each other if they wanna reproduce and make their species thrive again. Sounds a little adultish to me. Which is good since I’ve grown up with Pixar movies since the day I was born (1995, the year Toy Story came out) and one to fit an older girl works.

High School Musical 4: down the toilet. They need the original characters! It wouldn’t be the same.

Okay, I’ll stop rambling. Just remember, Cars rules!
